PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Full time opening beginning September 3rd, 2024

Congratulations!  You just found the ideal preschool program for your three to five year old that is a contracted UPK provider.  Even though my program is private/home-based, it is a structured program with similar daily activities as a center/public preschool, but BETTER!  I have more education and experience than the majority of center/public based school teachers, so can better implement curriculum and offer increased social/emotion guidance.  With a small group of eight children, your child still gets the socialization they desire, the one on one attention from their teacher, but with less virus exposure, less stress and less classroom behavioral issues, leading to MORE FUN!  Plus if you have younger children, or plan to expand your family, great news!  I will care for them too, supporting your whole family 😊

The majority of any preschool program should be child-directed (play based) as preschool-aged children learn best through hands-on experience.  By interacting with age-appropriate learning materials, other children and the caregiver in their environment, your child is encouraged to make connections from interactive experiences and learn.
As their teacher, it is my job to help further their learning during these interactions, by asking questions that challenge them to think, make choices, experiment further and draw conclusions.  I have selected materials to provide for the children in support of all the areas of learning and development, as suggested by Colorado Shines, and HighScope.
I provide YEAR ROUND preschool curriculum through Mother Goose Time, which aligns with Colorado's Early Learning guidelines.  Children do not need a summer break from preschool curriculum as they love the projects being offered along with the stories and games.  They don't realize they're learning as it's fun, so no break is needed and would actually NOT be appreciated.

This curriculum provides one theme each month with twenty days of lessons supporting the theme.  These lessons are presented to the children through daily art projects (10 process and 10 product based), writing journals, math/literacy/movement games, songs, rhymes, classroom displays, stories and more.
A flexible daily schedule is followed to help the children understand what time it is, what is expected of them and what they can expect of me.  This schedule helps the children feel in control of their day so they can relax and focus on the positive interactions taking place between friends, their teacher and materials in their classroom.
Your child will be enrolled in a program that supports socialization.  Children don't automatically know how to socialize, it takes practice and instruction.  Having peers in their classroom will give them the opportunities they need to develop good social skills; communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, cooperation, problem solving and patience for waiting a turn, or sharing.
Your child will learn to work in a cooperative learning environment; accepting and respecting their classroom, class rules, classmates and teacher.  This classroom is set up similar to a kindergarten room with similar materials and routines helping each child adjust easily into kindergarten.
My guidance is coordinated with each child's needs and understanding.  As each child gains skills, guidance is modified to fit their growing, reduced needs.  By the time a child is ready for kindergarten, they will be able to share ideas and resolve conflicts with their peers on their own.
